Lo-Fi Soccer Camp 7” E.P. in Heckler

Harvester has members from Chico, Davis, and San Francisco.  They have to be good just to stay together.  But they’re better than good.  They’re one of the best new bands I’ve heard all year.  They’re kind of sloppy and noisy like Pavement, but they write good songs.  Sean Harrasser is an excellent songwriter working in a band context.  He writes catchy, hooky melodies and lyrically falls somewhere Jim Kerouac and Ray Bradbury.  Sample lyric: “Twenty-two parts per million, your persuasion is brilliant… hair trigger.”  My favorites on this EP are the aforementioned “Hairtrigger” and “It’s Been a Long Day.”  This 7” has also got some pretty artsy graphics and you can buy it for $3.00ppd. from Lather Records.  –John Baccigalupi
