Camper Van Landingham - Q (UK)

On Camper Van Landingham’s opening track, “Real Blinker,” psychedelic guitar lines squirm in the left channel while a jangly rhythm stumbles around the right.  It’s the perfect template for Harvester’s split personality.  Like their Chico forebears 28th Day and the Downsiders, Harvester are writing classic, hoary old American music, recorded and played with college boy freshness.  Sean Harrasser’s reedy vocal warbles impressionistic narratives, as comfortable guiding the acoustic “I’ll Be OK” as needling through a cover of Guided by Voices “I Am a Scientist.”  Doomed ‘80s acts the Dream Syndicate and Green on Red briefly made vintage Americana sound this essential.  Hopefully, Harvester can preserve their vitality for longer.  ****
